Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect through the forms on this site, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
What we collect
We only collect what you type into one of our three forms.
- Student application: name, email, WeChat ID (optional), date of birth, current level, school or university, country or region, fields of interest, your goal (optional), a CV (optional), and a parent or guardian's contact details (optional).
- Mentor registration: name, title or position, institution, department, institutional email, webpage, research areas, the student levels you would mentor, how many students you could take per term, and any notes you add.
- Funding application: name, email, institution, position, highest degree and year, your research summary and plan, how the funding would be used, and a CV.
We do not ask for passport or national ID numbers, place of birth, or gender. We ask a student's date of birth only to work out whether guardian information applies.
Why we collect it
Only to review your application, match applicants with mentors and programs, and contact you about it. We do not use your details for anything else, and we do not sell them.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or share personal information with third parties, with two exceptions: the mentor a student is being matched with, and the service providers that host our website and send our email.
Where it is stored
Submissions are stored on Cloudflare, in data centres in the United States and the European Union.
Applicants under 18
Most of our students are 16 or older. If you are under 18, we encourage a parent or guardian to be involved in your application; guardian contact details are optional.
Access and deletion
To see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email aaea.academic@gmail.com and we will take care of it.
