Our international graduate school provides an outstanding environment for talented young researchers to start an academic career in life sciences.
The graduate program for a PhD at the IMPRS-MOB takes three years. The IMPRS-MOB promotes MENTORING, EDUCATION and TRAINING through a comprehensive coursework curriculum which includes different kinds of lectures and courses.
Throughout the PhD, an indiviual THESIS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC) guides and supports the student in pursuing his/her scientific project.
The course program also includes a number of career development courses such as presentation skills, time management, German class etc.
An ANNUAL RETREAT gives the student the opportunity to present progress of their dissertation research. Accompanied by experts of their field, the interdisciplinary meeting improves scientific communication, networking and scientific competence of the students.
In addition to the school’s own coursework, numerous activities by several network partners of the research clusters in the region are co-opted by the IMPRS as well as associated graduate schools in Gießen (GGL) and Frankfurt (GRADE).
IMPRS-MOB also supports the doctoral students with a travel grant for national and international scientific conferences and workshops. Our doctoral students are expected to publish their research in reputed academic journals (list of students’ publications) and have the opportunity to network within the Max Planck Society.
As an international PhD program, all activities are conducted in English.
